Well, it’s been a pretty eventful week. Riots – everywhere.
London rioted, quickly followed by Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham. Looters and mindless vandals burnt down shops and homes and helped themselves to whatever they could get their hands on.
Then they blamed it all on the government.
Only in England eh?
Personally, I have had a pretty tough month too and to top it all off, my co-writer Mark Williams landed back in Britain and wanted to work! I mean, honestly, doesn’t he know that the country is in a mess? Write? Pfft… 😉
Seriously though, we had a lot to discuss. Our new book, ‘Snow White’ comes out next week (squeeeee!), we are setting up a new venture (more on that in due course) are hoping to have some ‘Saffina Desforges presents’ short story anthologies out before Christmas (accepting submissions from indie writers. Email Mark Williams at crossingthepond@rocketmail.com) and have two or three other WIP, so things are pretty hectic!
It’s an exciting time for all writers that’s for sure. ‘Sugar & Spice’ is still selling steadily and we received news yesterday that we had made the Top 20 on the Waterstones ebook chart. How cool is that?
So it’s all go at the moment for the Saffina Desforges duo, exciting times indeed. Mark and I haven’t spent much time together, face to face, on the same continent, writing – it could get messy. In fact, I predict a riot! 😉

Well, after 175 days in the Top 100 in the UK Amazon paid store and a few days before the release of Snow White, we certainly didn’t expect another number one!
But here it is anyway:
It’s always nice to get number ones! 😉
The Amazon charts are crazy at the moment with trad pub’d works on sale, but we seem to be holding steady in the Top 100 and ‘Sugar & Spice‘ is still selling thousands a month, so we are very happy to still be the only ‘truly indie’ book that reached #2 in the charts and has sold the most copies of a debut novel.
Not bad eh?

Wow! There’s yet another sentence I never thought I would utter, especially not a measly six months after publishing a book by a writing team that no-one had ever heard of and that had been described by agents as “the last taboo.” 100 people spent their money on Sugar & Spice and felt compelled enough to award it 5 stars. How cool is that?
Love it or loathe it (and believe me, there are plenty who can’t decide!) Sugar & Spice has now sold just short of 65,000 copies on Amazon alone. By the time we release Snow White, that figure should have reached a staggering 85,000 copies.
This is without new sales coming (hopefully) through new ebook distribution channels such as Tesco, Apple (ibooks), Waterstones and Kobo.
I haven’t included Smashwords sales in this figure either, although they remain pedestrian at best.
Needless to say, we are chuffed to bits (if not a little shocked)… 😉
So, thank you to all of those people who have bought and read it and thanks to everyone who bothered to leave a review, good or bad. You’re a reader, your opinion counts; much more than ours.
