FIFA = Football in f*cking atrocity: Sepp Blatter, Mohammed Bin Hammam & Jack Warner take Giggsy on in corruption stakes!

So, today, one of the greatest sports in the world is brought into disrepute -again!

Next to tobacco, football is the next biggest grossing commercial product in the world and we have the biggest villain in the universe running the game.

The beautiful game:

Sepp Blatter is a bigger and more horrible bad guy than I could ever hope to dream up and he is ruining football as we know it. Antagonists are falling at the first hurdle, thanks to him. Women’s football is taking a back seat in his under-the-table hands, even though we go into the Summer World cup as one of the favourites after beating the USA..

I wonder what kind of coverage this WORLD CUP will get throughout a summer of no football?

THIS is the man responsible for dragging women’s football back under the feet of horses:

He’s also a criminal.

I thought Barcelona could dive! 😉

Anyway, he is in good company:

Mohammed Bin Hamman and Jack Warner are as bent as nine-bob notes (the guys across the pond might not get that?) and together, they are changing the face of football and sport. Well done. Give yourselves a huge pat on the back.

Speaking of good company, I awoke to find Sugar & Spice in amongst legends:

Cool. Definition = Not FIFA. 😉 And that is from the Saffina Desforges dictionary of life.

One day, girls will rule the earth – until then; check out my co-writer’s blog for a month of GREAT GALS. June is ‘Girls just wanna have fun’ and it is one not to be missed!

Konrath & Crouch, who?

Well, the last thing I expected this morning was to wake up and find Sugar & Spice number 1 in English speaking Police procedurals on Amazon Germany, above the great and vociferous Konrath!

But hey, it’s been a crazy few months, I guess anything can happen! 😉

Women’s work

On the same day that Oprah hung up her chat-show hosting spurs after dominating our TV screens for a quarter of a century and Michelle Obama gave an inspirational speech to young women at Oxford University, telling them ‘not to be afraid to fail;

I saw this: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/edwest/100089407/the-most-pc-family-in-the-world-try-raising-a-gender-neutral-child-its-been-done-before-and-failed/

A Canadian couple aiming to bring up their child as ‘gender neutral’ in a ‘tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation’…

Seriously? Is the world like that any more?

I wonder what Christine Lagarde would say to that?

We all know that women didn’t get a fair deal back in the day, but things have changed. Sure, there are still certain areas where we still fall behind but the days of throwing ourselves under horses are well and truly over.

The next two series of books to bear the Saffina Desforges name both feature strong, independent women. In fact, in Equilibrium, men don’t have much of a place at all – not even as the bad guy. No, the boys can resign themselves to bit parts as extras and in some cases, food!

Book One of The Rose Red crime series; Snow White also has a female antagonist, Red is a tough-assed cop with attitude and spends every day fighting male prejudice in the work place and loving every minute of it!

She even gets to kill a few baddies along the way.

Which leads me nicely to the point of this post.

June is ‘Girls just wanna have fun’ month on my co-writer’s blog: http://markwilliamsinternational.com/

He is dedicating the whole month to writers, but not just any old writers. Oh no, writers that are also girls!

There will be a series of guest blog posts and interviews from some of the hottest properties around at the moment in literary world. Believe me, I have seen the line-up; it is NOT to be missed!

So make sure you stop by and check it out cos the sisters are doing it for themselves! 😉

Be careful what you wish for: Saffina Desforges 100 days later

Huh? Someone wake me up. Has all of this been one big, fat dream?

Today is a pretty special day for us.

One that we were never sure we would actually see and certainly not one where we expected to be in the position we are in today!

Sugar & Spice has been in the Top 100 for 100 days.

You have no idea how crazy that sentence is.

Less than 200 days ago, Sugar & Spice was on our hard drive and floating around in cyber-space, back and forth between Mark and myself. No-one had ever heard of it or us. Saffina Desforges was a complete unknown.

Our sales (since January) are rapidly approaching 60,000. We are #1 in 6 categories and have been in the Top 5 Kindle Paid Store for over 5 weeks now. We have survived battles with well-known, traditionally published authors, books from current TV serials and massive literary forces that are Stieg Larsson, Gordon Ferris and Stephen Leather et al.

We have also had contact this week from some rather big players in the world of literary agency representation.

We have had 137 reviews so far – 77% of them are 4 stars and above. We are not far off 100 5 star reviews. Here’s a couple of the latest ones:

Sugar & Spice should soon be available on Waterstones, Tesco and iTunes too.

Today, work on Snow White, Book one of The Rose Red Crime series is thundering along at an alarming pace and we should be previewing its new cover in the next two weeks, ready for a summer release.

Equilibrium is next for the SD team, something for Halloween and Christmas for your Kindle.

The project list gets larger and more adventurous every day.

It’s been a crazy ride. I wonder what I will be posting 100 days from now?

Thanks for coming along with us!
